HEAD LICE
“Mum”, said William, “My head’s all itchy,
It’s making me scratch, it’s making me twitchy.
I’ve scratched it here; I’ve scratched it there,
I’ve scratched it almost everywhere!”
“Oh!” replied mum,”Let’s take a look”
So up to the bathroom William she took.
She washed his hair with nice shampoo,
Then with lots of conditioner she combed it through.
“Ah yes” said mum,” I have detected
Head lice, just as I suspected”
“How did they get into my hair?
Why pick on me? It’s just not fair!”
“Did they fly in?” William asked,
Or jump on me as I walked past?”
“Oh no” said mum, “They don’t fly or swim,
Or hop, or jump, or dance, or spin.
They crawl across slowly hair to hair,
When heads are close, that’s when they dare
To move from one friend to another,
Mum to daughter, dad to brother.”
“Let’s get rid of these unwelcome guests,
They’re nothing more than little pests!
We’ll put on some lotion overnight,
To work its power, use its might.
We’ll wash and comb it through tomorrow,
Those pests will cause you no more sorrow.”
“Clean hair, dirty hair, hair brown, blonde or red,
Lice don’t care as long as they’re fed.
We’ll check it over, once a week,
We’re lice detectives, those pests we seek!”
AS YOU KNOW THE SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE A REGULAR, PREVENTATIVE INSPECTION SERVICE ANYMORE AND IT IS NOW UP TO INDIVIDUAL PARENTS TO INSPECT THEIR CHILDREN'S HAIR. PLEASE CAN YOU CHECK YOUR CHILD'S HAIR ON A REGULAR BASIS - THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.
